The Royal Glasgow Institute is an independent organisation promoting and encouraging Scotland’s contemporary art and artists. It is the third largest organisation of its kind in the UK.
The Royal Glasgow Institute organises the largest and most prestigious Annual Exhibition in Scotland, which is open to all artists, with some 17 awards of cash prizes - one for a first-time exhibitor - as well as opportunities for solo exhibitions.
This painting entitled “Last Days of Paddy’s Market” is my entry for this years RGI open Exhibition. Paintings are put forward to a panel of judges who decide whether the work will be on display in the Mitchell Libary, Glasgow.
The painting continues a series of works of Paddy’s Market in Glasgow which is now no more. The painting dimensions are 60cm x 120cm before framing
For the past two months I have been solidly working on a brand new painting for an open exhibition in Glasgow. The painting will be submitted to a panel of judges who will decide if the painting will be accepted into the exhibition. Once the painting has been submitted then I will post a photo of the finished piece.

The James Walter Gallery of Contemporary Fine Art presents an exhibition of young emerging artists. As well as myself the exhibition will display the works of Yukako Sakakura, a Glasgow School of Art graduate creating abstract figurative work. Also featured will be paintings by Jennifer Paley who also graduated from The Glasgow School of Art collecting the Royal Glasgow Institute prize for her work featured in her Degree Show.
The show opens with a private viewing on the 9th October 5pm - 8pm.

This is my latest painting incorporating hand cut stencils combined with the messy splatters and drips on A2 heavy duty cartridge paper. Have had a break for the past couple of weeks so it was good to be back in the studio working on a new works.
It seems pretty clear that I have a fond fetish for drips and brought that to a single layered bear. (There will only ever be one multi layered bear) I just played around with this for some fun. Hand Cut with free hand drips on A1 card, even threw out the stencil
A possible contender for a large format Limited edition print perhaps. I stay away from prints but this piece was was created with the possible intension for a small run of prints.

This is my latest painting entitled “Jazz Man” painted on A2 Heavy Duty Cartridge Paper. A commissioned painting in which I continue the dripping paint freehand effect combined with the detail of my hand cut stencils for the musician and keys of the saxophone delivers a contrast that I enjoy playing/experimenting with.
