Klingatron News
COMING SOON.
I have been working a Leah happily on a new portrait painting, but I have been playing around with some shots to film a new art edit. I think the last time I did an edit of my process was in 2008 in preparation for my solo show at The Arches, Glasgow. I really enjoy editing and playing around with my camera but it’s been too long.
So stay tuned for a new painting and a new edit.
I took this photo of my dog recently in my studio and thought it would be a nice one to end the year with.
2011 has been for me one of my toughest years. Like the Scottish weather, there has been a grey cloud above me it seems. It is the first year free of exhibitions, I enjoy the buzz and pressure an exhibition brings and have missed it this year. That is not to say i haven’t been busy. I released 3 brand new limited edition prints throughout the year of which can be bought via my online store. It has been a year where i have pretty much locked myself in my studio creating new works, with new techniques and the response from the newest paintings I have been producing has been fantastic and I look forward to creating more in the new year. The portrait painting I am working on will be complimented with a video edit.
Whilst I have not exhibited my paintings in galleries I have been involved in a couple of Live Painting gigs both in Scotland and down south. I hope to do more of these next year if the opportunity arises. I plan to submit work for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition once again and who knows maybe 2012 will be a better year in this regard. The closing months of the year have allowed me to work on private commissions and some small commercial design work.
I have enjoyed 2011 but I’m looking forward to it’s end and making moves in 2012. 2012 should bring a new fresh website, brand new paintings and hopefully more live painting and maybe exhibitions. So long 2011, hello 2012. Let’s make shit happen.
It seems like I have been talking about working on this painting for some time on my Twitter. Well it is finally finished.
“Rhino” is my latest painting inspired by characters from Marvel comics. Always thought he was a cool character that didn’t get much spot light in the Spiderman comics I was reading in the early 90’s. This painting is a combination of four layers of handcut detailed stencils and free hand work. I personally am pretty happy with this painting.
So I am starting a new painting as we speak, a portrait piece and once that is finish I shall begin yet another Marvel inspired painting. I got two characters in mind.
Stay tuned
